Python development for data pipelines, reporting and APIs

Python is the best tool when the core job is reading, cleaning, joining and analyzing data, or wrapping an API around that data. We help you decide whether it’s the right language for your project, what the architecture would look like and who will be able to maintain it.

Signs your problem is about data, not screens

If several of these sound familiar, Python probably has something to offer:

  • Every week someone exports files from two or three systems and reconciles them by hand in Excel.

  • Reports take days, and when they arrive nobody fully trusts the numbers.

  • Information arrives in PDFs or spreadsheets and has to be keyed in again.

  • You want to forecast something (demand, inventory, churn) and today it’s a gut call.

  • Your analysts already work in Jupyter notebooks and need that work to run on its own.

What we can show you, and what we can’t yet

We haven’t published a client project built in Python, and we’d rather tell you than dress it up. Our production products, the AI publishing platform and the multi-tenant CRM, are written in TypeScript on Node.js because they’re mostly web integrations; we use Python for internal tooling, such as extracting text from documents and processing audio files. So we won’t pitch Python because it’s trendy. We recommend it when the problem is about data and its ecosystem saves real work: pandas or Polars for reshaping tables, scikit-learn for classic models, and mature libraries for reading PDFs, Excel files and scientific formats.

Is Python the right language for your project?

We pick a language based on the job and on who will maintain it, not on personal taste.

Python fits if…

  • The heart of the project is transforming, joining or analyzing tabular data.
  • You need a forecasting or classification model trained on your own data.
  • You have to process documents, images, audio or scientific formats with specialized libraries.
  • Your in-house team already writes Python and will own the system.

Look elsewhere if…

  • The main job is wiring up APIs, receiving webhooks and responding in real time: Node.js does that more directly.
  • You just need to call an AI model like ChatGPT: any language handles that equally well.
  • Your site runs on WordPress and you need one specific feature: a PHP plugin is simpler.
When Node.js makes more sense

An example of what we’d build in Python

Illustrative example, not a client: a regional distributor exports sales from its ERP and orders from its Shopify store every Monday, and someone spends half the morning reconciling them. A Python script can read both files, normalize the SKUs, flag gaps between what was sold and what shipped, and drop the report into a shared folder before the team logs on. If other systems later need those numbers on demand, the same code becomes an API.

Three shapes a Python project can take

Not every Python project is an application. Often the first column is all you need.

  • What it’s for
Processing files or data on a schedule and producing an output.
    Example
Merging sales from two systems every Monday at 6 a.m.
    Where it runs
A scheduled job on a server or in the cloud.
    What needs upkeep
Library versions and changes in the source files.
Sign it’s time to move up
Other systems need the result on demand.
  • API with FastAPI

    What it’s for
Exposing data or calculations for other systems to query.
    Example
A service that returns an inventory forecast per SKU.
    Where it runs
An always-on service or a container.
    What needs upkeep
The API contract, authentication and monitoring.
Sign it’s time to move up
People, not systems, need to edit and approve data.
  • App with Django

    What it’s for
People who sign in, edit records and pull reports.
    Example
An internal system for logging requests with an approval workflow.
    Where it runs
A server with a database and background workers.
    What needs upkeep
Framework upgrades, the database and user permissions.

General guidance as of October 2026. FastAPI and Django are the two Python frameworks we most often put on the table; the final pick depends on the project.

How we’d structure a Python project

The same standards we hold our own products to, applied to Python.

  • Reproducible environment

Pinned versions of Python and every library, so the project runs the same on your laptop, on the server and two years from now.

  • Validation at the door

Every file or request is checked against a schema before processing. Malformed data gets rejected with a clear message instead of breaking the report.

  • Tests with sample data

Automated tests on real, anonymized files, so a change can’t quietly alter the results.

  • Scheduling and retries

Runs at set times, with a log of what was processed and a retry when a source doesn’t respond.

  • Docs your team can use

How to run it, where the data comes from and what to do when it fails, written for whoever inherits it.

How a data project would start with us

  1. 1

    A sample of your data

You share real files, anonymized if needed. Without seeing the data, any estimate is a guess.

  2. 2

    Proof of concept

A script that does the job once, end to end, to confirm the output is correct and useful.

  3. 3

    Turn it into a service

Configuration, validation, tests and whatever runtime the case calls for: a scheduled job, an API or an app.

  4. 4

    Handoff and monitoring

We put it into production, review the first runs with you and document how to maintain it.

We've worked with Crece Virtual on several web design projects for our Barranquilla operation. Their team demonstrated a solid command of both WordPress and React, adapting to the specific needs of each project based on our technical and functional requirements. What we value most is the quality of the codebase they deliver. Each project has a clean and well-organized structure, which has greatly facilitated updates and the addition of new features when needed. The technical documentation they provide is clear and useful for our internal team. Communication throughout the entire process was smooth and professional.

Working with Crece Virtual transformed how we acquire clients. From the outset, they understood our business and guided us through everything: digital strategy, website architecture, and domain selection. The WordPress site, with a custom theme and widgets created in Elementor, turned out exactly as we needed: fast, clear, and designed to make requesting quotes effortless. Thanks to technical SEO, link building, and Google Ads campaigns in Medellín, our quote requests increased several times over, stabilizing at nearly 500% higher than at the beginning. The automation that sends leads from WhatsApp to Google Sheets, complete with all the data and UTM parameters, allows us to better measure sales and repeat purchases. Furthermore, their hosting, domain, and Google Workspace services have been reliable, and whenever we need support, they're always there with quick and clear answers.

We have been working with Crece Virtual for several months now, and it has been a great experience. They built our website in Next.js, and it turned out super fast and professional. The best part is that they didn't leave us on our own after delivery: every month they make updates and improvements, and when we need something urgently, they always respond very quickly. Their support has been impeccable. In addition to the website, they manage our Google Ads campaigns and SEO. Honestly, everything has worked very well. The campaigns bring in good leads and have us well positioned on Google and Bing. They are very professional but also very approachable, always explaining everything clearly. I recommend them without hesitation.

Python development FAQ

Python or Node.js?

It depends on the main job. For analyzing data, training models or processing documents, Python’s libraries are more mature. For connecting APIs, handling events and responding in real time, Node.js is usually more direct, which is why our own integration products run on it. Some projects use both: Node.js for the web layer and Python for the analysis.

When shouldn’t you use Python?

When what you need is mainly an interactive web interface, a service-to-service integration or a feature inside WordPress. Also when nobody on your team or your vendor’s team can maintain Python code: a system only one person understands is a liability.

Do you have published Python case studies?

Not yet. We use Python for internal tooling, but we don’t have a client project in Python we can show publicly. If that’s a requirement for you, we’ll say so in the first conversation.

Can you take over an existing Python project?

We review it first: Python version, dependencies, tests, documentation and how it’s deployed. From that review we tell you what risks we see and whether it makes sense to continue it, stabilize it or replace parts of it. We don’t take on a codebase we haven’t read.

Do I need Python to use AI?

Not necessarily. Using models like OpenAI’s only takes an API call, and our AI assistants are written in TypeScript. Python becomes necessary when you’ll train or fine-tune your own models, or crunch large volumes of data before using them.

Is it a data problem? Let’s look at it together

Tell us what information you handle, where it comes from and what decision you want to make with it. We’ll tell you whether Python is the right tool and how we’d start.

If you can, attach a sample file (no sensitive data) and an example of the report you build by hand today.
