Laravel development services for apps with user accounts, roles and workflows

Laravel is the PHP framework for when a website isn’t enough anymore: customers who log in, role-based permissions, recurring billing, background jobs and an internal admin for your team. We’ll tell you whether you really need it, what the architecture would look like and what it takes to maintain over time.

When a PHP project starts asking for a framework

These are signs you’re no longer building a website, you’re building an application:

  • You have several kinds of users (customers, partners, admins) and each one needs to see different things.

  • Your processes have states: a request gets submitted, reviewed, approved, invoiced and closed.

  • Some work has to run on its own: emails, reminders, reports, recurring charges.

  • Your business logic is spread across WordPress plugins that keep stepping on each other.

  • A mobile app or an outside system needs to query your data through an API.

What we can show you, and what we can’t yet

We haven’t published a Laravel case, and we won’t put up logos to suggest otherwise. What we do have in production are applications that solve the same problems Laravel solves (user accounts and roles, multiple clients’ data kept apart, scheduled jobs and daily backups), built in Node.js with Next.js and Supabase. So before pitching Laravel, we’ll show you how we’d solve the same thing on that stack and help you choose based on one key question: who will maintain this system three years from now? If your team or your IT vendor works in PHP, Laravel is usually the right answer.

Is Laravel the right choice for your application?

It’s an excellent framework, but not the only path. Here’s what we weigh.

Laravel fits if…

  • Your in-house team or your technology vendor works in PHP and will own the system.
  • You need an admin back office with lots of screens for creating, editing and approving records.
  • There are queues, scheduled emails, notifications or recurring billing involved.
  • You want clear conventions so another team can pick up the project without reverse-engineering it.

Look elsewhere if…

  • You need a content site or a standard online store: WordPress gets there with less code.
  • The core of the project is data analysis or model training: Python with Django fits better.
  • Your frontend is React or Next.js and you’d rather use one language end to end: Node.js keeps it simpler.
When plain PHP and WordPress are enough

Laravel vs. the options we usually weigh

Three ways to build an application with users and workflows. None wins on everything.

  • Users and permissions
Authentication, roles and authorization policies built into the framework.
    Background work
Built-in queues, retries and a task scheduler.
    Admin back office
Quick to build with packages like Filament or Nova.
    Hosting
A PHP server plus a long-running process for queues.
    Release cycle
One major release a year: 18 months of bug fixes and 2 years of security fixes.
  • WordPress + plugins

    Users and permissions
Basic roles; everything else depends on plugins.
    Background work
Limited scheduling that depends on site traffic or a server cron.
    Admin back office
    The WordPress dashboard, customized.
    Hosting
    Shared PHP hosting.
    Release cycle
Frequent core, theme and plugin updates.
  • Next.js + Supabase

    Users and permissions
Supabase Auth plus access rules enforced in the database.
    Background work
Scheduled functions and step-based workflows on the hosting platform.
    Admin back office
A custom admin built from components.
    Hosting
Platforms like Vercel plus a managed database.
    Release cycle
npm dependencies and managed services, each updated on its own schedule.

Support windows per Laravel’s official documentation as of October 2026. Next.js + Supabase is the stack behind our own production products.

The Laravel architecture we’d propose

Standard pieces of the ecosystem, so any Laravel developer can carry the project forward.

  • Authentication and roles

Login, password reset and email verification from the official starter kits, with permissions defined as policies for each type of record.

  • Queues and scheduled jobs

Emails, notifications and reports handled outside the user’s request, with retries and a dashboard to see what failed.

  • Admin back office

List views, filters and forms for your team, built with a mature package rather than from scratch.

  • Database migrations

Every schema change lives in code, runs the same way in staging and production, and can be rolled back.

  • Automated tests

Tests for the critical paths (sign-up, payments, approvals) that run before every release.

  • An API for other systems

Token-authenticated endpoints for a mobile app, a partner or your other software.

How we’d run a Laravel project

  1. 1

    Business model on paper

Entities, states and permissions in a document your team can read: who creates what, who approves it and what happens next.

  2. 2

    Screen prototypes

The key admin and user views, validated before the logic gets written.

  3. 3

    Module-by-module build

One complete workflow at a time, with its tests, in an environment where you can use it.

  4. 4

    Deployment and upgrade plan

Server, queues and backups configured, plus a calendar for upgrading Laravel and PHP before support ends.

We've worked with Crece Virtual on several web design projects for our Barranquilla operation. Their team demonstrated a solid command of both WordPress and React, adapting to the specific needs of each project based on our technical and functional requirements. What we value most is the quality of the codebase they deliver. Each project has a clean and well-organized structure, which has greatly facilitated updates and the addition of new features when needed. The technical documentation they provide is clear and useful for our internal team. Communication throughout the entire process was smooth and professional.

    December 2025

Working with Crece Virtual transformed how we acquire clients. From the outset, they understood our business and guided us through everything: digital strategy, website architecture, and domain selection. The WordPress site, with a custom theme and widgets created in Elementor, turned out exactly as we needed: fast, clear, and designed to make requesting quotes effortless. Thanks to technical SEO, link building, and Google Ads campaigns in Medellín, our quote requests increased several times over, stabilizing at nearly 500% higher than at the beginning. The automation that sends leads from WhatsApp to Google Sheets, complete with all the data and UTM parameters, allows us to better measure sales and repeat purchases. Furthermore, their hosting, domain, and Google Workspace services have been reliable, and whenever we need support, they're always there with quick and clear answers.

We have been working with Crece Virtual for several months now, and it has been a great experience. They built our website in Next.js, and it turned out super fast and professional. The best part is that they didn't leave us on our own after delivery: every month they make updates and improvements, and when we need something urgently, they always respond very quickly. Their support has been impeccable. In addition to the website, they manage our Google Ads campaigns and SEO. Honestly, everything has worked very well. The campaigns bring in good leads and have us well positioned on Google and Bing. They are very professional but also very approachable, always explaining everything clearly. I recommend them without hesitation.

Laravel development FAQ

Laravel or plain PHP?

For a script or a feature inside WordPress, plain PHP is enough. For an application with users, permissions, queues and its own database, Laravel hands you what you’d otherwise write and maintain yourself in plain PHP: authentication, migrations, validation, email and testing.

When shouldn’t you choose Laravel?

When the project is a content site or a standard store, when the core work is data or machine learning, or when nobody on your side can maintain PHP. Also if you already have a working backend in another language: rewriting it in Laravel rarely pays off.

Can you maintain an existing Laravel app?

We audit it first: Laravel and PHP versions, packages, tests, queues and how it’s deployed. Keep in mind that Laravel 11 stopped getting security fixes in March 2026, and Laravel 12 gets them until February 2027. After the audit we tell you whether to keep building on it and in what order to upgrade.

Can Laravel run on shared hosting?

A simple app can, if the host offers a compatible PHP version and cron access. Queues and background processing need a long-running process, which usually means a VPS or a managed platform. We decide based on what your app actually does.

Can you work with our team in the US?

Yes. We work remotely from Colombia, which sits on UTC−5 year-round: the same clock as US Eastern in the winter and Central in the summer. That leaves plenty of shared hours for planning calls and code reviews.

Laravel, another framework, or no framework at all?

Tell us who will use your application, which workflows it has to handle and who will maintain it. We’ll tell you straight which stack fits and how we’d build it.

If you already have a Laravel app, let us know the version and whether it has automated tests.
