Search, registration and transfers

Domain name search: find a name that’s available and register it right the first time

Send us the names you have in mind. We check whether they’re available in the extensions you care about, whether they clash with an existing trademark and whether you can say them over the phone without spelling them out. Then we register the domain and manage its DNS so your website and email work from day one.

Common domain registration mistakes

Every one of them can be fixed, but avoiding them is cheaper:

  • Registering it under your web designer’s, an employee’s or an agency’s name, and finding out when it’s time to renew or transfer.

  • Picking a name with hyphens, numbers or a spelling people tend to get wrong.

  • Letting it lapse because the renewal notice goes to an inbox nobody checks anymore.

  • Settling for an obscure extension when your customers will type .com out of habit.

  • Skipping a trademark check and later learning the name belongs to a company in your industry.

  • Paying every year for dozens of variations nobody ever visits.

How to spot a good domain name

Before you look at extensions, say the name out loud. A good domain is easy to understand over the phone, is spelled the way it sounds and doesn’t need a disclaimer like “with a hyphen” or “with a k.” Shorter is better, as long as it doesn’t turn into an acronym nobody remembers. Check that the name is clear as a trademark (the USPTO’s free trademark search is a good place to start) and available as a handle on the social networks you use. If the exact name is taken, adding a word that says what you do or where you are, such as “tours,” “studio” or your city, usually works better than hyphens or numbers.

.com, .us or .co?

All three work for a US business; they differ in reach, recall and risk.

  • .com

    What it is
The most widely used generic domain in the world.
    What it signals
Established and familiar; it’s what people type by default.
    Risk to weigh
Short, common names are almost never available.
    Choose it if
The exact name is available, or you sell nationwide or abroad.
  • .us

    What it is
The United States country code, reserved for people and organizations with a genuine US connection.
    What it signals
Clearly American; useful for local and national brands.
    Risk to weigh
Less familiar, so some visitors will type .com instead.
    Choose it if
Your customers are in the US and the .com is taken.
  • .co

    What it is
Colombia’s country code, open to anyone and often used as a short alternative to .com.
    What it signals
Modern and brief; some people mistake it for an incomplete .com.
    Risk to weigh
If someone else owns your name in .com, they may receive emails and visits meant for you.
    Choose it if
You want a short name and the .com is already in use.

Each extension has its own rules, set by its registry; we confirm them before registering. If the name is central to your brand, it’s worth securing the .com as well.

What we do with your domain

We search with you, register it and keep managing it.

  • A search with judgment

We try your options across several extensions and, if a name is taken, suggest alternatives that are easy to say.

  • Ownership checked

We confirm whose name goes on the registration and which contact email it uses, because that decides who controls the domain.

  • Renewals on time

Since we manage the domain, renewal doesn’t depend on someone remembering a date or reading a forgotten inbox.

  • DNS on Cloudflare

We run your DNS, usually on Cloudflare: we point the domain at your site and publish the records your email needs.

  • Careful transfers

If your domain sits with another registrar or in someone else’s account, we move it while keeping your site and email running.

  • Lock and privacy

We keep the transfer lock on and, where the extension allows it, the registrant’s contact details protected.

We've worked with Crece Virtual on several web design projects for our Barranquilla operation. Their team demonstrated a solid command of both WordPress and React, adapting to the specific needs of each project based on our technical and functional requirements. What we value most is the quality of the codebase they deliver. Each project has a clean and well-organized structure, which has greatly facilitated updates and the addition of new features when needed. The technical documentation they provide is clear and useful for our internal team. Communication throughout the entire process was smooth and professional.

Working with Crece Virtual transformed how we acquire clients. From the outset, they understood our business and guided us through everything: digital strategy, website architecture, and domain selection. The WordPress site, with a custom theme and widgets created in Elementor, turned out exactly as we needed: fast, clear, and designed to make requesting quotes effortless. Thanks to technical SEO, link building, and Google Ads campaigns in Medellín, our quote requests increased several times over, stabilizing at nearly 500% higher than at the beginning. The automation that sends leads from WhatsApp to Google Sheets, complete with all the data and UTM parameters, allows us to better measure sales and repeat purchases. Furthermore, their hosting, domain, and Google Workspace services have been reliable, and whenever we need support, they're always there with quick and clear answers.

We have been working with Crece Virtual for several months now, and it has been a great experience. They built our website in Next.js, and it turned out super fast and professional. The best part is that they didn't leave us on our own after delivery: every month they make updates and improvements, and when we need something urgently, they always respond very quickly. Their support has been impeccable. In addition to the website, they manage our Google Ads campaigns and SEO. Honestly, everything has worked very well. The campaigns bring in good leads and have us well positioned on Google and Bing. They are very professional but also very approachable, always explaining everything clearly. I recommend them without hesitation.

Domain name FAQ

Will the domain be in my name?

It should be: your company (or you) as the registrant. The registrant is the one who can renew it, transfer it or change where it points, and who has the final say in a dispute. Having us manage your domain means we keep it renewed and configured, not that we own it. Before registering, we confirm the registrant details with you.

Which extension should I choose: .com, .us or .co?

If the exact name is available, .com is still what most people type by default. If it’s taken and your customers are in the US, .us is clear and limited to people and organizations with a US connection. A .co is short and modern, but some visitors will type .com by mistake, so check who owns that version first.

What if the domain I want is already taken?

First, see whether it’s actually in use: plenty of domains are registered and sitting empty. You can try another extension, add a word that describes your business or location, or make an offer to the owner, who sets the price. If someone registered your trademark in bad faith, there are formal domain dispute procedures, but you’ll want a lawyer involved.

Can you help me transfer my domain?

Yes. We need the domain unlocked, access to the registrant’s email and the authorization code (also called an EPP or auth code) from your current registrar. A domain that was just registered or transferred can’t be moved again for a period set by the rules for its extension. If your DNS is hosted at your current registrar, we copy every record first so your site and email don’t go down.

What happens if my domain expires?

Your website and email stop working. Most extensions offer a window after expiration to get it back, sometimes for an extra fee, and how long it lasts depends on the extension and the registrar. After that, the domain can be released for anyone to register. That’s why renewals shouldn’t rely on anyone’s memory.

Already have some name ideas?

Send us three or four options and where your customers are. We’ll tell you which ones are available, which one we’d pick and why.

If you already own a domain and want to move it, tell us which registrar it’s with.
